Statement of Commitment
Contributions and donation management is a way for Churchill to carry out its mission of Corporate Social Responsibility. As such, contributions and donations should be used for business development and for the well-being of the communities in which we work, live and play.
Applying our human and financial strengths to the service of people and their communities is another way for us to combine our assets, demonstrate our values – and contribute to the well-being of individuals and our communities.
Focus Areas
Churchill tries to focus its contributions and donations primarily to non-profit organizations that operate in the following areas:
- Education
- Healthcare
- Youth education and development
Duration of Commitments
The duration of commitments for contributions and donations should usually be limited to a one year period.
General Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Their purpose is based on the well-being of the community or a specific category of individuals, and their activity is in the area education, healthcare, youth education and development or humanitarian assistance;
- The submitted project should correspond to Churchill’s mission and priorities for action. It must be aimed at one of Churchill’s target groups, support operational strategic planning, business priorities and marketing efforts.
- The source and number of people participating in the activity, event or project and media spin-off also can justify the involvement of The Churchill Corporation;
- The activity, event or project should ensure that Churchill’s position and image are strengthened within the community;
- They must show their effective financial governance and present a broad of directors that is diversified, representative and predominantly made up of independent members.
Criteria Specific to Sponsorships
We encourage applications from organizations meeting the following criteria:
- Offer Churchill significant visibility or business reciprocity opportunities;
- Propose a project in keeping with Churchill’s business development objectives;
- Communicate a message the Corporation wants to convey to a selected group;
- Provide several opportunities to exploit the proposed sponsorship;
- Propose an exclusive relationship in the construction sector (where applicable);
- Maintain their organization’s administrative fees at a reasonable rate; and
- Can provide a copy of their latest audited annual report with the application (where applicable).
Criteria Specific to Donations
We encourage applications from organizations meeting the following criteria:
- Be recognized as a charity or non-profit organization and have a charter to that effect;
- Churchill employees are actively involved in a volunteer capacity;
- Who can demonstrate self-financing efforts are being made and that the organization has a medium-term existence capacity;
- Maintain their organization’s administrative fees at a reasonable rate; and
- Can provide a copy of their latest audited annual report with the application (where
applicable).
Exclusions
The following requests are not eligible for financial support from The Churchill Corporation:
- Projects with only a single individual beneficiary;
- Video, DVD and film production;
- Travel and tours; and
- Events outside Canada
