Since 1960, Canem (including its predecessor companies) has provided a broad range of services including designing, building, maintaining and servicing electrical and data communication systems for institutional, commercial, light industrial and multi-family residential customers. Canem's electrical contracting services include the design of electrical distribution systems within a building or complex; procurement and installation of electrical equipment and materials; on-call service for electrical maintenance and troubleshooting, preventative and scheduled maintenance for critical component installations; budgeting and pre-construction services and management of regional and national contracts for multi-site installations.

Canem maintains a head office in Richmond, British Columbia and provides its services through six operating branches in British Columbia and Alberta, namely Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer. Canem continues to focus internally on integrating its information technology systems to enhance operating controls, as well as integrating a consolidated procurement program to manage vendors on a regional basis.
