Broda is a heavy construction company specializing in aggregate processing, earthwork, civil construction and concrete production. Broda serves a geographic market ranging from Prince George, BC to Dryden, Ontario, and has developed a reputation for delivering high-quality work, backed by careful attention to service, safety and the environment. It serves a broad range of organizations, including two major Canadian railway corporations and all of Saskatchewan’s major potash, uranium, infrastructure, and oil and gas companies. Its business is highly seasonal, with a majority of annual revenue generated between April and September.
Broda is comprised of the following three distinct and specialized divisions, each of which is a leader in its respective industry.
Broda Construction Inc., the group’s original enterprise, was established in 1967 and specializes in railroad ballast production, drilling and blasting, rock and gravel crushing, aggregate processing, quarry and open pit mine work. It serves both the public and private sectors, producing more than three million tonnes of aggregate per year in a variety of sizes and applications. Its major clients include Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National Railway.
North American Rock & Dirt Inc. (NARD), specializes in the construction of highways, roads, railways, industrial sites, airports, canals, waterways, dams, reservoirs, containment ponds, leach pads, site reclamation and oil and gas leases. NARD currently focuses on the public and private sectors in Saskatchewan and Alberta and has the capacity to move more than five million cubic meters of material per year. It has formed strong working relationships with several major corporations, including Cameco, Agrium, Potash Corp., the Mosaic Company and Dundee Development.
Kam-Crete specializes in concrete production, and sand and gravel work. It currently serves local markets in Saskatchewan and produces up to 10,000 cubic meters of concrete per year. Currently, Broda’s equipment base comprises more than 400 trucks and specialized earthmoving equipment. Valued at more than $36 million, these assets continue to expand in tandem with new work opportunities. All units are serviced and maintained to the highest standard, either at Broda’s 18,000 sq.ft. maintenance facility in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, or by one of the company’s eight mobile mechanical repair vehicles. By stocking a large inventory of major components and replacement parts, and by providing an onsite daily service program, Broda minimizes equipment downtime. This positively impacts the schedules, productivity and bottom line performance of both Broda and its clients. Broda is subject to fluctuating seasonal revenue cycles due to unpredictable weather conditions. This can have a significant impact on Broda’s quarterly financial results, particularly between the months of October and March.
The Broda Group's headquarters is located in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and they operate in eight locations across three provinces serving customers from British Columbia to Ontario.
